Your PYC Board of Directors is planning to make the club a nicer place this year. A new seawall is planned for the fall, and the permitting process for that improvement has begun. Wally Smith is organizing some locker room improvements – new floors and new sinks. The cabinets will disappear. Mike Hecker is planning some improved and expanded storage for the small boats. More of them will be on racks and less will be on the ground. Charlie Hess is surrendering control of the Junior Sailing program and passing the baton to Eric Ellison. Eric has made some great strides putting PYC at the top of Junior Sailing within the Detroit River Yachting Association. Charlie promises to stay involved on the committee. The Pontiac Sailing Education Foundation will take an expanded role in supervising Junior Sailing. The Lightning Class North American Championships for Masters, Women, and Juniors will be held on Tawas Bay August 6-9, and we hope that there will be a number of competitors from PYC on the starting line for this regatta. The largest Lighting Class fleet in the world should be well represented there. The renovation of the men’s and women’s locker rooms will likely take place in early April. During the three day renovation period, the clubhouse will be inaccessible to club members. The floors will be reworked to provide a surface that is easier to clean, and new sinks will be installed. The Baker National Race Team Regatta hosted by the Detroit Country Day Race Team on May 16 and 17 will draw 18 teams and approximately 120 people. To minimize conflicts with Sunday morning Lightning racing, the start time for this Sunday’s Lightning racing will be moved back to 11 am. Your April calendar should include the Spring Recall event at 2 pm Aril 19 at the Sylvan Lake Community Center and the work party on April 25. Hoist in is scheduled for May 2. Let the fun begin
