Youth Beginner Sailing

This class includes learning water safety, parts of a sailboat, wind direction, basic sailing direction and knots. The majority of the class time is spent gaining experience on the water in club supplied Optimists, Bics or 420 two-handed sailboats. The class is ideal for juniors 7 to 17 years old.

Fee: $350 for 10 sessions. Mon – Friday, 9AM – 3PM.

Dates offered: 6.

Additional weeks available for $225 per week.

Youth Intermediate/Advanced Sailing

The class is structured to take students from beginner skills through intermediate/advanced sailing skills and into racing if interested. The program is highly customized to meet the skills and schedule of the individual student and taught on club supplied Optimist, O’Pen Bic, Laser Radial, or Flying Junior two-handed sailboats. The class is ideal for juniors from 8 to 17 years old who have had some prior sailing experience.

Fee: $350 for first two weeks; each additional week is $225.

Dates offered: Weekly starting from June 17 through week of August 12

Student may sign up for 1 or more weeks, 8 weeks maximum. Weeks need not be contiguous. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Youth Beginner Sailing or equivalent course.

Junior Racing Program

This Junior program is intended for those who desire a comprehensive, travel-based sailboat racing experience. The Junior Racing Team is open for non-members as well. Training with a dedicated racing coach is Monday through Friday on Cass Lake at PYC. Regattas with DRYA (schedule to be announced) will be held at host yacht clubs (BYC, GPYC, CSYC, DYC and PYC). The program provides expert coaching and training. Transportation assistance for boat equipment is provided on regatta days. Racers must own their own Bic, Optimist or Laser Radials. Sailboats are available for rental fee of $700.

Fee: $700 for eight weeks. Monday – Friday 9 AM – 3PM (5 days per week, schedule varies on Regatta Dates)

Program dates are: June 17 – Aug. 16 (no training week of July 1^st )
