The Pontiac Yacht Club offers a complete sailing instructional program. This program is held at Pontiac Yacht Club ( www.pyc54.org) on Cass Lake. The purpose is to teach youths how to sail so they feel comfortable and confident in a sailboat. We also offer a comprehensive and competitive youth racing program with participation in the DRYA.
Youth Beginner Sailing
This class includes learning water safety, parts of a sailboat, wind direction, basic sailing direction and knots. The majority of the class time is spent gaining experience on the water in club supplied Optimists or Flying Junior twohanded sailboats. The class is ideal for juniors 8 to 17 years old. Fee: $350 for 10 sessions. Mon – Friday, 9AM – 3PM.
Dates offered: June 14 – June 25; July 5 – July 16; July 19 – July 30; Aug. 2 – Aug. 13.
Additional weeks available for $175 per week.
